Maokong Gondola + Taipei Zoo + kiki + shilin

Day 4 - Maokong Gondola + Zoo + kiki + shilin
(15 June 2012)

woke up to a clear blue sky ... amen ... chop chop grabbed breakfast at mac and quickly head for the zoo via the metro...

we decided to take the Maokong Gondola which is just next to the zoo first... this gondola is not the same as the gondola in Venice oh... it's actually a cable car....

What makes it more unique is that it has 2 different kinds of cabin, the normal one and one with the glass base.... and since the prices are the same for both of them, we took the glass base one of cos.... the glass base one is called the crystal cabins or also known as the Eyes of Maokong Gondola

fare is based on number of station travelled (there's only 3 stations), ranging from NT$30 - NT$50...

so proud of myself.... i self take de wor.... dun ask me who's the 5th person sitting next to 洪爸爸 who is staring into the camera as well.... cos i also dun know.... hahahaha.....

the normal kind of cabin comes in giraffe prints, leopard prints and peacock prints

our cabin.. =) ... all the crystal cabins are with zebra prints

it's actually not scary at all lo... and nothing much to see thru the glass also... . luckily it cost only NT$30 (S$1.30) as we only took it for one station

...the view up there...

ventilation in the cabin was not good...stuffy stuffy de...=S

we got off at the next station (zoo station) ...limited time ah.... so everything try abit can liao.... heee

took a shuttle bus at NT$5 ($0.22) each and transferred to the tram at another NT$5 to the entrance of the zoo where the pandas were...

teachers are in the same uniform blouse as the kids.....so cute.... =D

the only animal that we visited were the pandas....that's the only type of animal that Taipei zoo has that the Singapore zoo dun have... it's actually kind of sad looking at the animals in this zoo cos most are kept separately from each other and their habitats are kind of fake... =S

cheeky 洪妈妈

this is 团团 and i think it is suffering from depression.... first, it walked in circles, then it went to sit in one corner of the enclosure  facing the wall... and it looks kind of dirty with its grey fur instead of white.... =(

in the neighbouring enclosure,  圆圆 was more normal, enjoying its nap.... once in a while, it even wriggled in its sleep... =)

Mr Ang loves them lots lots... while i was buying some souvenirs from the gift shop, he stood in front of their enclosure for at least 15 - 20 minutes admiring the 2 of them....
the little things that i gotten .... only zoo which housed panda can sell panda's stuff in their gift shops oh (i think...hahaha) ....

next stop:

Kiki restaurant (Taipei City Hall branch) at level 4... highly recommended by Zhuan.... it's a restaurant started by 蓝心湄... wanted to have lunch de... but by the time we reached, it was high tea time...

only 2 pictures of the food although we ordered 3 sets of high tea and 3 bowls of noodles cos they were just so yummy, we gobbled them up the moment they were served.... who cares about photo taking when food was so good..... heee

洪妈妈的咸豆浆

all 4 of us were super full ... we pushed the food around and in the end, 洪爸爸 was tasked to eat the last piece ... oopx....

do check out the toilet next to the restaurant ... Japanese style kind... seat warm warm de oh.... =)

in the same building is 诚品书店, a bookstore that is very popular in Taipei and Ah Niu Niu suggested that we check it out.... and i m so glad we did... it's like our kinokuniya, just so much quieter... and there are many reading areas for people to just take a book to sit down to read .... it functions like a library when it is actually a book shop....

luckily the books were mostly in chinese and Mr Ang can't read chinese, else i think he would have bought a truckload of books back....the prices there are really much cheaper compared to here... he bought the uber thick Steve Jobs book (English) at only NT$599 (S$25.90)... he said that the same book was selling close to S$50 back here... we spent about 1.5 hours there... =)

Supposed to proceed to Taipei 101 which was nearby, followed by wufenpu then raohe night market.... all in the same area so imagine how disappointed we were when we saw that it was pouring once again.... =(

we redeemed 3 cups of free coffee from 7 - 11, sat down and discussed the next course of action... =S ...we decided to head back to the minsu to rest then meet up at 8+ for dinner then check out EZ5

Dinner was in one of the mini hotpot cafe in ximending where our minsu was at...

we took a cab from ximending to EZ5 after dinner and it cost us about NT$195 (S$8.45)

so happy to see that 黃嘉千 would be performing ... =) ... until the  waiter told us that all the tables were taken and that we had to stand and still pay NT$800 (S$34.60) per person ....

everything is just so not going according to plan.... argh!!!!

so we asked if we could make reservation for sat, they said full house since the week before cos 彭佳慧 would be performing... so in the end we made a reservation for sun night...

proceeded to shilin night market where we got 'cheated' by one of the fruit stall owners.... in keelung night market which we visited on day 2, sliced fruit was sold in small packs and were super yummilious... so we asked the one in shilin for some guava and she sliced and sliced and sliced 2 big one for us.... then in the end charged us NT$350 (S$15.15) for the market bag of guava... we asked "why give so much???" she said we din tell her how much we want so she just estimated lo and that she had sliced it already, we had to take it.... argh!!!!

we still paid up though cos dun want to argue with her but all of us felt really damn tulan la, especially when everything was already not going according to plan... =S... can see all our face xian xian one...

heng, 阿宗麵線 saved the day.... at least it managed to pacify my Mr Ang....and the phrase ' S$15 的 guava' became the taboo phrase for the whole trip.... =S
