Florence - Cinque Terre

Florence - Cinque Terre

as i m very sure that after 3 days of churches and domes and museums in rome, i would definitely not wan to visit any more churches and domes and museums in florence (if i have the choice of cos)... and was pretty glad that i really do have the choice.... =).... the alternative is a hiking trip in cinque terre .... yes yes yes... dun laugh.... i chose a hiking trip ...so unlike me.... i m too nua to opt for a hiking trip liao... but i did... and paid for S$150 per person for it somemore... i must be mad... that's wat churches + domes + museums did to me... =S

went online to look for some photos on the place.... so colourful buildings....pretty pretty hor.... dun know if they did photoshop anot lo... hope not...

Highlights of the trip:

Hiking trip to Cinque Terre from Florence
Spectacular coastal views along the Cinque Terre
Guaranteed to visit all 5 Cinque Terre villages
Lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the blue sea and hillsides covered with vineyards
Soak up the old-world atmosphere as you explore Cinque Terre villages on foot
40-minute boat ride along the Riviera (weather permitting)
Take a swim in the clear, blue water at Vernazza or Monterosso
Transport from Florence to Cinque Terre by air-conditioned coach

think my concentration was on the "clear, blue water" that i overlook "Guaranteed to visit all 5 Cinque Terre villages on foot"....how how how.... abit regret now leh as i type.... why did i choose to torture myself on my honeymoon??? confirm will get butt ache, tigh ache and everywhere ache one lo.... but paid US $230 for both of us liao leh...cannot say dun wanna go then dun go de leh... haix... think i better start to do some climbing ..... but from review and lily (Mr Ang's cousin), it's a place worth visiting.... keeping fingers crossed....

toothpaste matters

Toothpaste Matters

since dun know when, i already have the impression that couples do breakup and divorce each other over the use of toothpaste (and also the position of the toilet seat - whether to keep it up or down).... couples can end up quarrelling endlessly over where to squeeze the tube...one would have preferred squeezing it from the end so that he/she can push the toothpaste up slowly each day, while the other one could just squeeze it anywhere along the tube, mostly likely in the middle, as long as toothpaste erupts out....

went online to do some bo liao search and came across a few forums and articles on people sharing their frustrations on having spouses who squeeze the tube differently from them.... but seriously, how serious a problem can it be over the use of toothpaste???

well, i m the kind that would prefer to sq
ueeze it from the bottom while Mr Ang is one that squeeze it at any point of the tube he likes.... we dun have a problem with each other, just that sometimes, only sometimes, i will smooth out the dent which he had created in the middle of the tube....doubt he even noticed it... but that's a small issue.... hahahaha....

and there are so many varieties of products that can help couples overcome t
his squeezing problem....in such cute and pretty packaging somemore... isn't buying one of these cheaper than going thru a divorce over the squeezing problem???
(1) TOOTHPASTE DISPENSER
available in automatic version where a decent amount of toothpaste will be dispensed when the toothbrush is placed at the opening or the manuel version when a button has to be pressed before the toothpaste will be dispensed

(2) TUBE SQUEEZER
this is the more common type.... i do see them every now and then... should be available in pasar malam or provision shops???

besides the difference in the way we squeeze our toothpaste tube, Mr Ang and I also prefer different brands of toothpaste, i m more of a darlie toothpaste supporter while he's a colgate supporter.... but since i have been using colgate for the 4 months i had lived in his place and his mum gave us 2 tubes of colgate for our new house then just use lo... =)

well, the one most annoyi
ng toothpaste habit of Mr Ang is that he uses alot of toothpaste each time he brushes his teeth... he is the typical type which must cover the whole toothbrush length with toothpaste.... the correct amount of toothpaste needed for an effective and efficient wash is the size of a pea or fingernail (according to the web)....

why do i find this annoying leh??? especially when it's a colgate tube.... go check out the diameter of the opening of a coglate tube and that of other brands of toothpaste.... the diameter of the opening of a coglate tube is way larger than other brands and it's not because colgate wants to facilitate the consumers' use of the toothpaste but instead it wants consumers to use more of the toothpaste each time.....argh....so cunning of them right????

many of you might be thinking how come i m so knowledgeable regarding this issue right??? hahahaha.... cos i had read about this in my marketing textbook when i was in uni.... it's was under the section on "thinking out of the box".... the article stated that the management team of colgate was having a meeting on how to increase sale... and after many many hours, all they could come up with were the usual marketing strategies such as advertsing, creating awareness etc etc...then in came the cleaner, someone posted the challenge to him....the cleaner thought for a while and said, "just make the hole bigger" ....tatatata..... with this sentence, the meeting was over....

sometimes, we really need to see different perspectives and seek difference opinions...maybe this will make all our so-called problem easier to be resolve... =)

Happy Hatchday Mr Ang

Today is my dear dear Mr Ang's birthday and more than 200 people has wished him happy birthday over facebook and handphone messages have been coming in since 12am..... he's really Mr Popular leh.... before i even have a chance to wish him happy birthday (although he was just less than 3 m away from me), at least 5 people beat me to it liao.... how lousy can i get lo....

anyway, dun wanna squeeze with everyone on his facebook page and on his handphone....and my art box is still in woodlands so cant even make him a nice birthday card with lots of mushy words this year....

well, 洪大哥 sponsored a 3-in-1 celebration last monday at vivo tung lok... 洪爸爸's birthday, Mr Ang's birthday and also Mother's Day.... super yummilious oh.... our 全家福... =)

and on our side, no 小俩口 birthday celebration yet cos today happens to be Mr Ang's first exam paper too.... so poor thing lo... having his first exam paper on his birthday... luckily the paper din give him a bad day.... so i think he should have done well bah.... exam ending on 18th May....

although we din have celebration today, i did give him his birthday present lo... a pink highlighter ....hahahahaha.... why a pink highlighter leh????.... cos 2-3 months ago, Mr Ang had asked me to get him a pink highlighter from the school bookshop as his has run out of "ink".... but it was out of stock and it has completely slipped my mind until i had to replenish my purple marking pens today....so 就很顺便地买了一支pink highlighter 给他当生日礼物lo..... =)....

we really dun have a habit of buying presents for each other....cos dun wanna stress ourselves over what to buy for birthday la, know each other anniversay la, together anniversary la, wedding anniversary lo.... endless dates to remember and endless events to celebrate.... so dun 麻烦 la.... but i do have things plan oh.... me gonna treat him to universal studio (cos i wanna go) and the ice cream buffet (which also i wanna go) which i mentioned in my previous post.... =) ... it's gonna be 2 fun fun events for us to enjoy together.... i happy means he happy mah..... hahahaha....
last but not least, ending the post with a birthday "song" for dear dear....

第一个月的点点滴滴

第一个月的点点滴滴

Mr Ang changing the quilt cover.... din know that changing bedsheets, pillow cases and quilt cover can be such a good workout lo... i was perspiring like i had just ran one round of the track.....

i mentioned in my first blog challenge ( http://tangtang-land.blogspot.com/2010/11/30-days-challenge-day-1.html) about Mr Ang being a neat freak and he's bringing his neat and cleanliness level a notch higher now.... he's really very proud of this little cosy house of ours and super determined to keep it in tip top condition despite the fact that he's having his exam next week... his favourite friend is "Mr Muscle" oh... he loves to use it to clean the mirrors and stove and he's so looking forward to cleaning the windows after his exams....

not that i m complaining about a hubby that enjoys doing housework.... but sometimes, it's quite irritating to see him going around (a few times a day) with the hand held vacuum cleaner, sucking up each and every strand of hair that i shed.... but i got use to it liao... think it will be worse if he asked me to do it instead..... but once in a while, i will still tease him with comments such as "dear dear, would it be better if i wear a shower cap at all times so that my hair wun dirty YOUR floor?" or " dear, you know what's the best way to stop my hair from littering YOUR floor?.... ans: i move out lo".... i know i'm damn "guai lan" but i really can't help it lo.... hahahaha....

building on the success of our decal tree, Mr Ang decided to have decal dandelion on the wall below.... so we have Mr Ang here, adjusting the dandelion's seeds based on my command.... "move to the right, no no no.... a little bit more to the left.... not so cluttered.... need to space out"..... wahahahaha.... i m such an evil wife.... poor Mr Ang.....

close up on our dandelion.... it's in a very light shade of grey so that it will not 抢 the 镜头 of our tv and clock.... =) .... but i think it looks very lonely on its own... so will be getting another one to form a pair of dandelions on my next visit to city square, JB....

洪妈妈 will cook dinner on mondays to wednesday while from thursday to sunday, we have to settle our own dinner.... most of the time, we will just eat out... but once in a while when 蔡妹妹 is here for tuition with Mr Ang, they will cook....

corn campbell soup...spagetti with cabonara sauce... yummy...

and it's durian season now.... so we will indulge in the king of fruit once in approx 2 weeks.... =)

we can usually come to a consensus for most things... but sometimes, we do insist on having our own ways....

dove body foam for me and shokubutsu body foam for him.... i hate shokubutsu, find it too squeakily clean liao but he loves it..... so buy both lo..... luckily we are both okay with using pantene shampoo for the hair else our bathroom will look so cluttered with bottles eventhough there's only 2 of us .... =)

in case colleagues, friends, kiddos in school and tuition kids have been wondering how come I am always in the same few sets of clothings these 4 months, it's because most (80%) of my clothings were left in woodlands since i moved over to Mr Ang's house in Jan after the wedding.... only went home yesterday to do my first round of 搬家-ing.... yes, after moving into our home sweet home for a month, my barang barang from woodlands have not been delivered over yet.... thanks to 蔡妈妈.... wait until pek chek already...so decided to 搬 my clothes over by ourselves in a cab....

so happy to finally see all my dresses after 4 long months.... not that i like to dress up often but at least i can dress up when i feel like it..... but looking at them.... is my wardrobe too big or do i have very little clothes ah????..... time for shopping again???? heee..... GSS round the corner right????

also in my wardrobe are 2 of baby's dresses.... 不舍得 to throw them away although she's no longer around.... miss her so much.... she worn the pink with polka dots one on my wedding and the orange white one was bought all the way from japan 4 years back.... oh baby baby baby oh....

also lug my mini AMC pots which 蔡妈妈 received as free gifts when she bought the big set when i was only 12 years old.... she has always says she will give me the mini set as 嫁妆...really cant believe that it came true.... especially when it's 18 years later....hahahaha..... with the pots in, we can finally start cooking (maggi mee) without having to walk over to 洪妈妈's kitchen cabinet to steal pots liao.... ;P

on our fridge.... =)... from MP Mr Yeo Guat Kwang who pop by for a house visit last wednesday.... heng Mr Ang supports PAP too... =).... else confirm argue with him till can cold war one lo.... i was so upset with the result that i cried when Mr George Yeo was voted out.... just feel that it's gonna be even more unfair for the PAP starting from now... cos if PAP listens and improves on its management style, opposition will say it's because of them that's y PAP improves ... if PAP remains the same or become worse, opposition will say that PAP is still not listening and will needs more opposition in the parliment in the next election....

either way, PAP loses out.... if a government is busy settling difference within itself, checking on itself... how is it able to bring the country forward as a whole or to its maximum potential???? i'm worried..... i will have to go through at least 8 more elections if i live to the age of 70+.... like i mentioned in my previous post on the election ( http://tangtang-land.blogspot.com/2011/05/election-2011.html ), i'm really skeptical about living in a country that is run by the current opposition party... one that shouts to get their message across...one that only knows how to "sa ka" its people by complaining about everything that the PAP has done and one who is so thick skin to announce that they have no plans for aljunied for the next 5 years and will use what the PAP has planned ....

Election 2011

Election 2011

my second election....missed the first one... was away on a diving trip with chunyang and yuan they all.... think all of them had reinstate to be a voter liao... but me being me la.... had not done it yet...yes, close to 5 years liao and have not bothered to reinstate as a voter.... wahahaha....maybe because i was too confident that PAP will always definitely win.... a typical bochap citizen who is taking everything for granted...

either i have been a 井底之蛙 in the previous election or is this election more captivating, more drama-mama??? or is it because of facebook that information & news & videos are more easily available.... i m surprised that there are so many friends who are so in favour of the opposition.... these are people who went through the heavily subsidised singapore education system crafted out by the govt (PAP in majority), have stable paying jobs, some working in foreign companies (PAP was to one who allow them in), has a roof over their heads (living in HDB which the PAP plans and built), owns a car or can afford to take public transport (which the PAP planned and built) and reach their work place in time, can afford to dine out at restaurant (foreign restaurants) , buy branded stuff (from foreign companies), go on holiday yet they are super unhappy about our government .... are they really not being looked after by the PAP???

cannot tell leh.... guess they must have hide it well then, they are in actual fact very 可怜 and are being 欺压 by the PAP, they are forced to eat in foreign restaurants although prices are rising and they cant afford it... they are forced to own a car despite the ERP and the high COE .... they are forced to own a flat when they actually prefer to rent...they are forced to buy foreign products although they hate it that foreigners are allowed in to open companies and shops...

As i m 'forced' to listen and read the many many rally talks and comments and election related posts that has been hoarding facebook and the newspapers... i realised that this election is indeed baised.... the voters are biased against the PAP....

my take on some of the things the opposition had said/asked:

1) "has salary increase over the last 5 years?"

- of cos la...my starting pay was a pathetic $1500 during the SARS period lo.... he asked this question, does it mean that his salary has not increase in the last 5 years??? poor thing leh....

2) "reduce the GST by 5%"

- how is that possible??? especially when the personal income tax has just be reduced by nearly half.... money dun dropped from the sky to finance the street lights, police force, army, teachers etc etc lo.... and i really doubt the opposition has that much power to make this decision too....

and do they know that goods and service tax is one of the best tools to redistribute income from the rich to the poor...think they should start studying economic before they say to reduce GST to help the poor....cos it dosen work that way.... the higher income who buys more expensive items and buys more things are the one who are actually contributing the bulk of the GST that the govt is collecting, in fact 75% of all GST collected came from the high income...

then the govt uses this to give the lower income more 'u save, i save, u grow, i grow' package which people also complain about....think there should be an opt out policy for this package so that those who thinks that it's a carrot can dun take it one lo.....

3) "opposition are not here to take over the govt, they are jus here to keep the govt in check"

- to me is, these opposition knows that they are not as good as the PAP, they know that they cannot replace the PAP that's y they dun even dare to take over the PAP....and since they know that they are not as good as the PAP then who are they to keep them in check??? .... a fake good manufacturer to do quality check on branded good manufacturer??? hmmm.... 真的好不知量力哦....

4) all citizen pay tax so why are those who are in the opposition ward deprived of the usual upgrading etc...

- u still get street lights, police aid, army aid and teachers in your ward, u also get the growth package ah.... so the only payoff for voting for the opposition is the outlook of your estate which i think is really not that lugi lo... if voting for the opposition do not have any negative effects then why should PAP work so hard when all you do is to vote for people against them....

5) "it's ok to vote Mr George Yeo off as he will have a 后路 but not the opposition, the worker's party, particularly 刘程强, will lose everything if he does not get voted in"

- for a party that does not even have plan B for themselves, are you sure they even have a plan for singapore or a plan to help singapore out of the problems they have identified??? ....for a person who took such risks, will the policies he suggests in future put singaporeans at risk too??

6) regarding the poor and old people issue, i think singapore govt is doing a fantastic job for a whole lot of reasons.... one, if it gives out welfare too easily, it will encourage ppl not to save when they are young thinking that the govt will look after them when they are old....in this way, the young will have to pay more tax.....two, some of these old people really deserve to be only given $200 a month by CDC and that is that...

i know of an old chap... 62 years old this year... physically abused his wife 25 years ago till his wife left him with his only child.... and in that 25 years, he refused to provide anything for his child, spent every single cent he earned, didnt look after his health with all the smoking and drinking and womanising and now wants to claim maintenance from his 'long lost child'....the court dismay the case against him....

does this old man deserve a good old age life??? i really dont think so.... if yes, then wun alot of men just create kids, dun provide for them, then still able to have the kids or the govt to give him a good life when he's old....

the point is, the govt did set up agencies to look into each and every case that has been reported or made know... they dun want people to exploit the funds (which are tax payers' money) and for the truely needy, they do give a bare minimum so that that person can continue living...not in luxury cos most of them really do not deserve it....

7) "our ministers' pay are way too high"

- i dun disagree... but they do cut their own pay when times are bad... is really 风雨同舟,共创未来 and they justified their pay by indeed making singapore one of the top country that has the least corruption...

8) "we have alot of reserve, it's okay to reduce/dig into / put less into the reserve or sinking funds"

- it's not okay.... it's because of all these reserve that's y singapore can sail out of the most recent recession so quickly... one really wun know why is the next SARS, next H1N1 or next world financial crisis....it's always good to have reserve, the more the merrier...just that it's always good to have savings, the more the better.... =)

9) "to draw out CPF earlier"

- for what??? to be cheated off by their offsprings??? there's like so many so many news report of old naive people who got cheated out of their CPF withdrawal and then dumped in the old folks home by unfilial kids.... read up more on CPF life policy... they are trying to reduce the risk of old people being cheated by giving them monthly payout till they die.... the amount of payout will depend on how much they have in their account too... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A part of me wishes that PAP will lose....better still, let the opposition runs the country for the next 5 years... then maybe these people will appreciate what the PAP has done for us over all these years...and maybe then will they know how difficult it is to bring the country forward yet look after each and every aspect.... cos i really dun think the opposition can do a better job than PAP...

and look at the opposition party la...look at each of their faces.... i m so use of seeing MM Lee's, SM Goh's, PM Lee's, Mr George Yeo's intellectual, friendly yet firm and serious face that i really cannot imagine putting anyone from the opposition party on the international stage to represent singapore ... look at their cocky faces.... listening to them at the rally really make me think that they sound like those old taxi drivers (yes, including Nicole Seah) who are just damn good at making snide remarks and who are just unhappy with anything and everything that the govt has done and anything and everything that is happening to them.... such poor souls leh...always living in unhappiness....

to me.... PAP is like a 80% filled cup... the people who are critising PAP now are those that are focusing on the 20% emptiness....
